Crewe Alexandra's vastly experienced captain Neil Cox says the dressing room needs to react positively from Saturday's dismal 4-0 defeat to Doncaster Rovers and quickly, or we could be facing a relegation scrap.

Cox has been there and done it all before and instead of looking forward to a potential push for promotion a winless run of five in League One now has us peaking over our shoulders at the bottom four. It is not where we thought we would be and our underachievement has angered the skipper.

Cox told Crewe Alex World: "We are bitterly disappointed to have played like we did on Saturday. We didn't play very well at all and I think we got what we deserved in the end. I think it could have been more than four goals in the end because there were a few who went into the shell and didn't want to get on the ball when we were 2-0 down.

"If that is the case and they don't want it then I don't think they deserve to be the team. There will be a few home truths coming out and we need to react and react quickly or we are going to be struggling. It is time to show a bit of character.

"We have gone back to conceding silly goals again and we have got to work hard as a team to stop it happening. We have to have a long look at ourselves and start to scrap and fight because we need some wins and fast."
