Maynard Boosted By 90 minutes And Goal
Nicky Maynard says getting his first 90 minutes of the season under his belt and scoring his first goal of the campaign on Tuesday evening will only boost his confidence. Despite successive defeats, Maynard's recent return to match action has given everyone a lift and a fit and in-form Maynard will only make us stronger in the second half of the season.
Nicky scored a fine poacher's goal to draw us level against Gillingham on Tuesday night and after overcoming that horrific injury sustained on the opening day of the season, the 20-year-old is now hoping to fire the club up the table.
Nicky told the club's official web-site: "It was good to get 90 minutes under my belt and to score my first goal. That has only boosted my confidence and now I need to kick on from there and go again against Walsall on Saturday.
"I've had a bit of a bad time this season with the injury, but I'm totally over that now and I'm looking forward to the second half of the season and trying to help the club move up the table.
The club's number 9 added: "Everyone was disappointed to have lost on Tuesday and there were a few words said in the dressing room. We know we have to learn from our mistakes and go again. We had been on a decent run up to a couple of weeks ago, and we need to go on another one of those runs again."
