In-form midfielder Ben Rix admits that the Crewe Alexandra dressing room will not be taking anything for granted when they travel to Whaddon Road this weekend. The Alex ended their own barren spell with a fine 2-0 win over Luton Town at Gresty Road, but they won't let complacency get in the way of another tricky away date in Cheltenham.

Cheltenham have lost their experienced manager John Ward to the lure of the challenge at Carlisle United and have won just twice in Coca-Cola League One this season. Rix and his team-mates are under no illusion though that they face another difficult game on Saturday, especially as their temporary boss Keith Downing would love to secure the job on a permanent basis.

Crewe are still seeking their first away win of the season and are eager to build some real momentum on the back of that hard fought victory over Kevin Blackwell's Hatters.

Rix told Crewe Alex World: "People will look at where Cheltenham are in the league and assume that it be three away points for us. It never works out like that because you can never guarantee anything in football. Anything can happen on the day.

"At Southend we were disappointed and annoyed to lose 3-0 but again that game could have been different if Julien's goal would have stood and we had been awarded a penalty. We all thought that Gaz (Gary Roberts) had been pulled down in the box.

"I know the supporters were not happy with the performance and Southend but we shared that as players. We were annoyed with the way we performed on the day and were suffering just as much in the dressing room and on the way home. It is not a nice feeling and hopefully we turned them around a bit with the win over Luton.

"Cheltenham are at home and will desperate for the points also, so we know it will be just as tough but with the players we have here, hopefully our quality will see us through and we will be able to pick up maximum points.

Rixy added: "We hope to pick up all the points because we need to. We need to improve our away form and hopefully that first win will come at Cheltenham."
