Determined To Put Wrongs Right
Crewe Alexandra's left back Billy Jones is expected to shake off a slight knee injury to retain his place against Southend this Saturday. On the back of a 4-1 home defeat to Bournemouth,
Jones and the rest of the Alex lads are determined to bounce back with a much-improved performance at Roots Hall. The former Exeter City defender is convinced that things will change for the better sooner rather than later.
In preparing for Saturday's trip to Southend, Billy told us: "There is a good spirit in the camp and there are some very good players here at Crewe. We know there a few who see our recent form as a massive problem but we don't because we are confident that we can turn things around.
"We are still creating chances and it is just a question of taking them. If we had been able to take one or two of our chances on Saturday, then the game could have been totally different and it could have been game over for them at half time. I think the score line flattered Bournemouth a bit because we had just as many chances as they did. They took theirs and we didn't.
"That is football though and we have to pick ourselves up and try and get a result at Southend. They have been on a decent run but they were beaten by Tranmere at the weekend and we performed well there and picked up a point.
"So if we can hit that level of performance again then there is no reason why we can't get a positive result at Southend.
Bill concluded: "We have been over the DVD and everyone knows where they went wrong on Saturday and what we could have done better both as individuals and collectively. We sat down and sorted everything out at the beginning of the week and now all the lads are looking forward to taking on Southend."
Supporters re reminded that Saturday's kick off time is 1pm. This is due to the International weekend
