We Need To Do Our Talking On The Pitch
Crewe Alexandra's vice captain Julien Baudet has told the club's official web-site that it is about time the Railwaymen start doing their talking on the pitch. The French defender won't be forced into making any bold predictions about whether Crewe are going to be challenging for promotion next season and remains focussed on getting himself fully fit and then picking up all three points at home to Brighton on the opening day of the season.
Baudet has endured a bit of a frustrating pre-season, with an untimely calf injury keeping him out of our last two friendly matches. He has now resumed training and admits that the Brighton game on 11th August remains the ultimate target.
Julien told crewealex.net: "At the beginning of every season, there is always great expectations. Every club dreams of promotion or winning the play-offs and we are no different here, but we need to be doing our real talking on the pitch.
"I'm not going to come out and say we are going to do this and do that and win the league or whatever. We know that we have to work hard just be in the team here and that is a great start because you need to be playing well enough to keep your place.
"The appointment of Steve Holland has given us a real buzz out on the training ground. He has worked very hard in his preparation and he has introduced a lot of new ideas. He also joins in the training and we can have some banter with him, which is great too.
"I've really enjoyed it and one thing is for certain, Steve won't be letting us rest on our laurels. He is very clear on what he wants and it is up to us to deliver.
He added: "With the likes of Forest and Leeds in this league and other very good teams, we know it is going to be another tough season, but all we thinking about at the moment is being ready for the opening day of the season and our match against Brighton."
