Defender who joined Crewe Alexandra on a two and a half year contract in October 2009 from non-league Wealdstone, but injury hindered his progress into the first team. He started with a hamstring issue and just as he thought he was to create an impression on Dario Gradi an ankle problem flared up. He returned to full training in December 2009 though and will push for involvement with the squad.
The defender joined the Alex originally over the summer on a trial basis, spending three weeks with the club, but at the time former manager Gudjon Thordarson decided to let him go. Carl then trained with the likes of Southend and Dagenham, and was poised to sign for the Dagger, until Dario renewed his interest in the 23-year-old and offered him the chance to join Crewe Alexandra, which he didn't think twice about.Season 2009 - 10
