Defender who arrived at Gresty Road in August 2006 on a six-moth loan deal from Premiership giants Liverpool, which was later extended until the end of the season.
The big centre back first impressed manager Dario Gradi a month before signing when he performed well for parent club Liverpool in a pre-season friendly game at Gresty Road.
O'Donnell is a product of the Reds Academy set up and has worked his way through the ranks at Anfield having been spotted playing local football in the Liverpool area in 2002.
Danny went on to captain the Reds Under-18's and established himself in the Reserve side having joined the professional ranks in 2005.
A tall, and strong central defender his first real spell of first team football and his good performances saw Crewe swoop to sign him on a permanent basis in June 2007 for a fee rising to £100,000.
Last season was a season of up's and down's for the Liverpudlian, as an inconsistent back four hindered his chances in the squad, but a dramatic last minute equaliser against Tranmere Rovers on New Year's day proved what an asset to the team his size could be. This was his first goal for the Alex as the game ended in a 4-3 victory.| Competition | Apps (as sub) |
