Having been granted a work permit for Calvin, the 6ft 3 striker joined the Alex in the summer of 2008 from North West rivals Tranmere Rovers in a £200,000 transfer fee.
It was Bobby Robson that first gave him his chance in English football at Newcastle United after spotting him playing whilst Calvin was here studying Business. From there he spent time on loan with Oldham where he made 25 appearances for the Latics.
Following his release from Newcastle, he signed for Tranmere Rovers where he scored 24 goals in his first season.
Then boss Steve Holland finally landed his man in June 2008 and in his home debut in pre-season against Hull City netted a hat-trick, his first two goals coming in the first three minutes of the game. He has continued to be in-and-around the first team squad using his height to his advantage at all times.
