Young defender who joined the Alex on transfer deadline day from non-league side Burton Albion in 2008.
Brayford progressed through the youth ranks at 'The Brewers' after spending time as a boy with both Manchester City and Stoke City. He was a part of the England Schools FA team that faced Australia in February 2006. Having signed professional forms, John made his first team debut for Burton just two months later in a 1-0 win over Ebbsfleet United.
Preferably a right back, John can also play in the centre of defence or in midfield, this young defender is also known for scoring goals having scored five for Burton in the 2007/2008 season. Opened his goal scoring account for Crewe in a 4-1 win over Hartlepool in December 2008, followed by his second goal against Yeovil, in bizarre circumstances.
A valuable part of the Alex squad, John attracted interest from Championship outfit Derby County during the summer of 2009.
