Crewe Alexandra v Oldham Athletic
We travelled down to Bournemouth last weekend in the search of the one point we needed to remain in League One but fell to a 1-0 defeat as Sam Vokes hit the only goal of the game 55 minutes into the game.
Nicky Maynard had a goal disallowed for hand ball six minutes later, George Abbey and Dean Morgan also having efforts saved by the Cherries keeper.
Oldham are travelling on the back of a 2-1 victory over fellow strugglers Cheltenham, Deane Smalley scoring his first ever league goal for Oldham. Lewis Alessandra scoring the winning goal three minutes from the final whistle.

It is fair to say that Oldham hold the edge over our complete list of meetings having gained a total of 33 victories to our 15, however the last time they came to Gresty Road the game ended in a 2-1 victory for the Alex. It was April 2007 and Nicky Maynard was on target on both occasions, firstly on 25 minutes and then putting away his second with 20 minutes of the game remaining. As the final whistle approaching the Latics pulled a goal back courtesy of Ritchie Wellens, who is now playing with Doncaster.
We have already met the side twice this season, both of which took place at Boundary Park. The first of which in September was a game of goals, the final score being 3-2. After being 2-0 up within the first half an hour thanks to goals from Lee Barnard and Byron Moore, on 36 minutes Mark Allott gave the home side a lifeline by making it 2-1. We held on to the lead until, with just seven minutes remaining, Oldham got an equaliser through Matthew Wolfenden and then to rub salt in the wound in the final seconds of the game Neil Kilkenny gave them three points as we let a 2-0 lead slip away. The second meeting saw the return of Nicky Maynard for an FA Cup fixture in December. A single goal that afternoon decided the winner as Lee Hughes netted just before half time. Oldham went on to draw Everton away in the next round and defeat them 1-0, they were eventually knocked out by Huddersfield in the fourth round.
