A fantastic 3-0 win last weekend at Yeovil gave us a bounce back from two straight defeats, and this weekend we look to continue the form and take another step towards safety in League One.

A brace from Nicky Maynard and a stoppage time goal from the returning Tom Pope sealed the win and a pleasant journey back to South Cheshire. Maynard could have had a hat-trick on the day and further chances came for Steven Schumacher, Gary Roberts and Joe Anyinsah that could have seen a bigger score line.

Cheltenham are travelling on the back of 2-1 defeat to Walsall last weekend, although it was a game that so easily could have ended as a draw. Cheltenham were 2-0 down within the first half an hour of the game, but with 15 minutes to go, Paul Connor gave Cheltenham the goal.

Back in contention Neil Cox

Crewe

Steve Holland has no new injury worries ahead of the game tomorrow and is boosted by the possible return of three players. Steve Jones has recovered from his back injury and trained this week, whilst Billy Jones and Neil Cox came through the squad game earlier in the week to bring themselves back in contention

Danny Woodards will be missing from tomorrow's game as he has not fully recovered from a ankle injury sustained in the last home game, whilst Michael O'Connor will also not feature as he has not yet overcome the injection he had for a groin problem at the end of last week

Cheltenham Town

Cheltenham Manager Keith Downing is without Alex Russell for tomorrow's game as he is suffering with a stomach injury, whilst there are further doubts on Alan Wright and Ashley Vincent. However, the two will be assessed following today's training session having made a return this week, which will test their chances of involvement.

Head To head

There have only ever been 5 meetings between ourselves and Cheltenham in our history and our visitors tomorrow have never beaten us, hopefully a statistic that will not change come the final whistle tomorrow.

The last match at Whaddon Road was a game that we were just five minutes away from keeping a clean sheet with a 2-0 score line. It took until the 74th minute for the first goal of the game to be scored, as Simon Church registered his first goal for the club, followed just four minutes later by a Ryan Lowe goal that made it 2-0. However, we proved how quickly games can change, with 5 minutes to go Cheltenham were back in the game when Alan Wright put the ball in the back of the net. Then in the last minute of the game, two points were dropped when David Bird gave the home side an equaliser.

Cheltenham last came to Gresty Road in September 2006 and it ended as a 3-1 victory for the Alex. Nicky Maynard opened the scoring that afternoon with his 6th goal in four games, but just 6 minutes before the break the visitors got an equaliser through Brian Wilson and it headed into the break an even score line. On 70 minutes the Alex took the lead once again, as Neil Cox put away his first goal for Crewe and only goal that season. With just less than 10 minutes left on the clock Luke Varney put away the third goal of the game to seal the victory.
