Tranmere Rovers v Crewe Alexandra
Another game comes around quickly as we travel to Tranmere Rovers for round two of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy to put the result from the weekend behind us.
Northampton took the lead just before half time but Tom Pope drew us back level, and then two second half goals from the penalty spot and a corner gave our visitors the points.
Tranmere are playing on the back of a 2-1 win over Carlisle at the weekend and so head into the game on a high. Ian Moore and Ryan Shotton on target as they won their second away win of the season. The first goal coming with the first shot of the game within one minute of play, their second goal ten minutes from time.

Team News:
Crewe Alex:
|
James Bailey could miss out having suffered a bad bout of concussion at the weekend.
|
Steve could be without James Bailey this evening as the youngster was stretchered off during the game with Northampton on Saturday with concussion.
Dennis Lawrence will need to be assessed after playing for 90 minutes at the weekend, but the management may be looking to make some changes to the starting eleven following the disappointment of the defeat. Julien Baudet will again miss out with his hamstring injury.
Clayton Donaldson should have returned to training now whilst George Abbey could also come into contention.
Tranmere Rovers:
Tranmere have only one injury concern on their list to defender Ian Goodison who injured his back during the weekend game. However, he is expected to be fit and is likely to feature.
Last Time Out:
Our last meeting with Tranmere Rovers was something of a goal fest that the Alex won in the final minutes of the game when Danny O'Donnell headed in his first of that season.
The first game of 2008, and eight minutes in, Crewe were 1-0 down when Andy Taylor put Rovers ahead. 30 minutes and Crewe were back level as Roberts converted a penalty, but it wasn't to last as Rovers regained the lead a minute later through Chris Greenacre. Roberts got his second of the game three minutes into the second half, and Nicky Maynard made it 3-2 to Crewe with near 20 minutes remaining. Seven minutes later and it was back on level terms, but with just one minute remaining O'Donnell netted a fantastic goal to give Crewe a dramatic winning goal.
