Shaun Miller struck a last gasp leveller for Crewe to leave the Gulls feeling sick. Torquay striker Chris Zebroski opnened the scoring on seven minutes with a 20-yard curler.
But Miller pounced as keeper Michael Poke flapped at a long punt. Torquay manager Paul Buckle said: "It's not often I get cross with my players but I am fuming. There was no danger in the game. We were in total control."
Crewe boss Dario Gradi said: Shaun needed that break. I hope this will help him,

Shaun Miller grabbed Crewe a fortunate lifeline at Gresty Road last night.
With the Railwaymen appearing destined for an eighth home defeat of the season, the striker capitalised on Michael Poke's indecision to roll the ball into an empty net in stoppage time.
The Gulls keeper failed to land a punch on Harry Worley's hopeful long ball and Miller collected his own neat flick to do the rest.
Crewe had been trailing from as early as the seventh minute after Chris Zebroski bent the ball past Steve Phillips.
And they struggled to get to grips with a Torquay side who belied their lowly position with some neat build-up play fully utilising lively front duo Zebroski and Elliot Benyon.
