Golden oldie Steve Fletcher insists he is nowehere near ripe for retirement. Fletcher ran Crewe ragged, scoring one and helping to create another as the visitors ended their three game winless run.

Eddie Howe admits Bournemouth's hopes of securing promotion will depend on whether they can stay clear of injuries. The Cherries named only four substitutes in their win at Crewe and were granted special dispensation to being in Rhoys Wiggins on loan due to injuries and suspensions.

Howe said: "We have a strong but small squad. Injuries will decide if we are still  in contention at the end of the season."

Dogged Bournemouth condemned Crewe to their seventh home defeat of the season. An improved second-half showing failed to rustle up an equaliser against the well-organised visitors.

Giant Steve Fletcher headed Eddie Howe's side ahead midway through the first half and Anton Robinson doubled the lead just over the hour mark.

Alex substitute Luke Murphy reduced the arrears with a well-struck volley, but Bournemouth deserved a victory which ended a run of three consecutive losses.
