Steve Davis admits that Max Clayton has given him a selection dilemma after coming off the bench to give Crewe Alexandra the lead in their 2-0 victory over Accrington Stanley at Gresty Road.
Clayton has only started one league game for the club, but at just 17, the England international has already developed a reputation for scoring crucial goals, perhaps most memorably in Crewe's win over Morecambe back in November.
Steve admits the temptation to use Max on a more regular basis is always there: "There is always food for thought there with Max. He is developing in to a decent player.
"We have to remember he is still only 17, as is Nick (Powell), so we have to bide our time with him and be patient with him. But I know he scores goals and he showed that against Accrington.
"He is always knocking on the door and asking if he can have a little longer in each game, but we have to move him through the system at the right pace and not throw him in to situations that are going to be difficult for him because he want to keep his confidence high, which it will certainly will be now."
