Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says he will put a move for a new left-back on the backburner after the friendly he was going to watch on Tuesday was postponed! Davis had earmarked a left-footer as his main priority ahead of the transfer deadline on Tuesday night, but the continued form of Matt Tootle, Harry Davis and the return to full fitness of Carl Martin means he has decided against rushing into any decision.
Davis has told the club's official web-site that he may revisit the option once the window has passed and clubs can bring players in again on emergency loan following the 'seven day period' has elapsed.
Steve told crewealex.net: "I would like to get a left-footed full-back in to give us that balance but I don't think that will be done before the transfer window. That is fine because we have three players who can play there and we can still bring one in, a week after the window closes.
"We do have three of our own. Harry and Matt are performing well and we are winning games and Carl is now back with us and did very well before he was injured as well.
"I was going to have another look at a left-back in the week but the game was called off. We have seen him before and the one we sent a scout too was an outside shot anyway from a Premier League club. We won't pursue that one for the moment."
Two players Steve will pursue is Jamie Lowry and Greg Pearson, who have impressed on loan. Assistant manager Neil Baker has made contact with Chesterfield over Lowry and Davis hopes he can persuade Burton Albion to allow us to extend Pearson's current loan deal.
