Crewe Alexandra are delighted to confirm the loan signing of Chelsea goalkeeper Rhys Taylor on loan until the end of the season.
The club have signed the 20-year-old goalkeeper on a youth loan until March and then sign him on emergency loan to coincide with him turning 21 in April.
Taylor originally joined the club on a loan deal to cover for Steve Phillips, who is recovering from surgery on a double shoulder injury.
The Wales Under-21 international revealed at the end of last week that he is more than happy to remain at Gresty Road and contest for a starting place with the former Bristol Rovers goalkeeper Phillips.
Taylor told Crewe Alex Player: "My plan was to play as many games as I could and I think I have played more first team games in the first month than the whole of my career so far. You can train for 365 days a year but there is nothing like playing games.
"I want to hold onto the number one shirt. Having competition and players around you is always welcome. It stops you coasting and you need that pressure. It keeps you sharp and I've come from one of the biggest clubs in the world, so I know how competition can benefit a player."
