New Stand Sponsor Hosts First Game

Posted on: Sat 11 Sep 2010

Crewe Alexandra Football Club are delighted to announce that avid Alex fan Mark Price is the new sponsor of the Gresty Road Stand for the 2010/11 season. The popular for younger supporters stand will now been known as 'The Mark Price Stand'.

Mark is a keen follower of his local club and his father once owned a small corner shop in the centre of Crewe. He as the eldest of the three children would often help unload the delivery trucks and conduct some of the customer rounds. His mother still lives locally.

Following in the footsteps of his father, Mark was destined to work in the food business and he is now the Managing Director of Waitrose supermarket.

Fondly known as the 'Chubby Grocer' due to his love of good food, Mark attended Crewe Grammar School and has been a Crewe Alexandra supporter for over 40 years. He says that his local club have 'given him great pleasure over the years and also moments of headache.' His greatest moment was seeing the Alex win at Wembley back in 1997 and wishes to give something back to the local community and the Football Club to mark his 50th birthday in March.

Although due to his busy work schedule Mark finds it difficult to attend as many games as he would like, he continues to keep any eye on the club's results and hopes to attend a match before the end of the season as part of his 50th birthday celebration.

Everyone would like to thank Mark for his sponsorship of the Gresty Road Stand for the new season.
