Steve Phillips is not too far off a return to full training after stepping up his training routine this week. Phillips is now working with the footballs again alongside former goalkeeper Paul Anthrobus.
Phillips underwent a double shoulder operation in the summer and missed the tail end of last season but he is now set to put pressure on to on loan goalkeeper Rhys Taylor.
Dario Gradi told the club's official web-site: "Steve is not that far away now. He has been out working with the ball and saving shots again. He has be diving around and going through routines with Paul Anthrobus. That isn't in Paul's remit as such but he has enjoyed working with the goalkeepers.
"Steve is nearly there and a return to full training cannot be that far off. We said he would be back sometime in September and he is getting close."
