Dario Gradi says he is delighted that our former striker Luke Varney has got himself up-and-running again at Premier League outfit Blackpool. Varney scored his on his Seasiders debut in a 2-2 with Fulham after agreeing a season long loan from Derby County. He also made a key assist in Blackpool's first goal as they marked their first game at home back in the top flight.
Dario told crewealex.net: "We would have loved to have got Luke back here on loan and get him going again but that was more hope than expectations. He was beyond us but that didn't stop me recommending him to clubs.
"I told Ian (Holloway) to take him when we played them in pre-season. I told him that if they played him correctly they would have a player on their hands. I am not saying he is a Premiership player but he could be in time.
"Luke is a good player and everyone here is delighted that he has been given this opportunity to play in the Premier League. It is a big chance for him and it looks as though he or Ian has got him going again. "
