Dario Gradi was pleased to have picked up a point away at Lincoln City this weekend but admits that if we had been more clinical we could have left Sincil Bank with all three points after creating the better chances.
Sub Calvin Zola hit the post with a header, Ashley Westood had one cleared from the line in the last minute and Clayton Donaldson saw a powerful header pushed away from Lincoln keeper Joe Anyon.
The Alex led through Shaun Miller's 23rd minute opener but were pegged back five minutes before the interval after winger Albert Jarrett had pinched possession from the toes of Ashley Westwood to race through and score.
Dario told crewealex.net: "We are trying to collate as many points as we can and establish ourselves. We have certainly become harder to beat and it is just a question of us plucking away and taking chances.
"How far you finish up the table depends on the strikers you have. I think if you want to finish in the automatic places, you need that really clinical finisher who can make a difference in a game when you may not deserve it.
"We had one in Dean Ashton. He could score a goal out of nothing to win you the game. I am still hopeful of Shaun or Clayton becoming a real goalscorer for us and making that difference to us in tight matches."
