Steve Davis took the Alex reserve side to Rushden & Diamonds today for a behind closed doors friendly, but returns with a 3-2 defeat.

First half goals from Danny Shelley and Byron Moore saw a relatively young Alex side head into half time level pegging at 2-2, but a third goal for Rushden in the second half from inside the box caught them out and left them at the hands of defeat.

Steve has admitted he is a little disappointed with the defending on the day, but one positive to take from the game is the inclusion of youngster George Ray who featured for the first time and gave a good account of himself.

Danny Shelley was replaced with a sore calf from a knock in the first 45 minutes, but it is not expected to serious. Today's goal is his second in two reserve games.
