Tootle Impressed By Manager Keane

Posted on: Tue 24 Aug 2010

In form right-back Matt Tootle has always been an admirer of Roy Keane the player and Roy Keane the manager, but he is hoping to put the former Republic of Ireland legend in a mood this evening.

Crewe are targeting another Championship scalp this evening after dispatching Derby County in Round One and Toots sees no reason why the Railwaymen cannot do it again.

Ahead of tonight's game Matt told us: "As a player these are the games you look forward to because it is always a great experience to test yourself against Championship players.

"We want to get through and get a Premiership team. That is what it is all about for us as players and I'm sure it would be great for the supporters if we could go on and draw a top Premiership side away.

"We have got Ipswich first and will be the underdogs again like we were against Derby, but we know we are capable of giving anyone a game on our day. We have nothing but respect for a club like Ipswich but we will go into it with nothing to fear.

"We have nothing to lose because everyone will be expecting Ipswich to get through. We are confident though that we can win the game. It will a great challenge for us but also an enjoyable one. "

On the legendary Keano, Matt said: "Roy Keane was an outstanding player and I think he has been an outstanding manager as well. He did well at Sunderland and I am sure he is destined to manage in the Premier League again one day.

"He has amazing influential skills and I'm sure he will become a great manager in time. He was captain of Manchester United in their best years and was the top man. He has learnt from the best and his Ipswich side will be motivated and right up for it."
