Dario Gradi is hopeful that his confident Alex side can cause another Carling Cup upset with victory over Ipswich Town this evening. The Alex go into the second round of the League Cup competition on the back of an emphatic 7-0 win over Barnet at the weekend, as well as a superb 1-0 win over Championship outfit Derby County in the previous round.
Roy Keane's Tractor Boys' have also made a bright start to the season and are currently in the play-off places in the npower Championship table after collecting 7 points. Of course, it is still very early days, but Dario admits that another top scalp would be great for morale within the club.
Dario told crewealex.net: "The Ipswich game is one the players will look forward too and after overcoming Derby County in the last round they will believe they can win it. If we can play as well as we can and defend as we can then we do have a good chance.
"Hopefully, the players can go out there and express themselves and cause another upset. We know we will have to defend very well because whatever team Ipswich elect to put out they will have quality players. Some people have told me that they have included some younger players in their squad, but I know they have a good youth set-up there, so they will be good.
"We are looking to get through and enjoy a bit of a cup run. It would be terrific for the players if we can defeat another Championship side. It would be great for morale and it would be great for the supporters.
"They can take encouragement from the way they performed against Derby and then again against Barnet on Saturday, and I am looking forward to an enjoyable night."
