Crewe Alexandra Football Club may have failed to hit the 3,000 season ticket mark to trigger a 10% discount for all supporters, but on a positive note we have attracted over 400 new or lost season ticket holders to the Alexandra Stadium. The club have also welcomed more new families, who have been keen to snap up free Under-11s season tickets as part our great family deal.
Although we are disappointed not to have hit the 3,000 mark, everyone has been generally pleased with the uptake in season tickets and we can only thank Crewe ASi, a number of avid supporters, the local media and local businesses for supporting us in our drive to entice more fans back to the Alexandra Stadium. We couldn't have launched such a poster and leaflet appeal without their considerable help.
We still hope that more will still consider buying a season ticket with us because they really do offer the greatest value for money for loyal Alex fans....
"Although the club have been unable to reach the target of 3,000 season tickets sold, we have been encouraged by the uptake by our loyal fans and new supporters, especially young families.
"It was our aim to attract a new generation of Crewe supporter to Gresty Road and we have successfully improved on our number of younger fans. They are the club's future and that is why we assessed and subsequently changed our pricing structure in regards to the youngsters.
"At this time of year, there still may be supporters currently on holiday or local students waiting to return to college or universities, so we will continue to monitor sales and if there was a surge of sales then we would look at the discount offer again. It is unlikely we will reach 3,000 - but the Crewe fans are definitely still out there.
"Much will depend on how we do both on-and-off the pitch and the result and performance against Derby County in the Carling Cup was certainly a step in the right direction. We hope some positives results may yet attract supporters to watch live football in Crewe this season."
