It is not only England who are suffering with their right hand side of midfield, Crewe Alexandra boss Dario Gradi also faces a dilemma with the news that Byron Moore has suffered ankle ligament damage.
The Alex boss has tried a number of options in that position with Steve Schumacher and Ashley Westwood both moved from their preferred central position. Westwood is currently struggling with an ear infection but the club are hopeful that he will be able to resume training early this week.
Luke Murphy did himself no harm with a promising performance as a second half substitute at Torquay United on Saturday. Murphy provided an extra attacking impetus after replacing first substitute Calvin Zola at Plainmoor. Crewe went for extra pace with Clayton Donaldson pairing up with Shaun Miller. It worked with the two combining for the equalising goal.
Dario told the club's official web-site: "Luke came on and played that midfield role better. He can pick a pass and also has a shot on him. I thought he came on and changed things, because it gave us the opportunity to put Clayton and Shaun back up front.
"We had to play a bit more football because of that but it worked. I thought the two forwards combined a lot more and were a threat. That was a promising thing to take from the game because the two of them found each other a few times with good passing."
