Crewe Alexandra have signed Bolton Wanderers defender Chris Stokes on loan to act as cover for the left-back spot. With Matt Tootle struggling with a dead leg and Carl Martin suspended for three games following his red card against Grimsby Town on Tuesday evening, Dario Gradi has acted quickly to bring in the former England Youth International.
Billy Jones has not trained enough to be considered for selection ahead of this weekend's trip to Torquay. Stokes will travel to the south coast and will wear the number 35 shirt.
Trowbridge-born Stokes, 19, started his career as a young player with Bristol Rovers before moving to Bolton Wanderers to complete his scholarship. He has been a regular for the club's Academy and reserve sides but is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Premier League club.
Stokes has signed on loan until 11th April to cover the club's fixture with Shrewsbury Town.
