Dario Gradi says his team will be going into Wednesday's match with Chesterfield full of confidence after snatching a 3-2 win over an in-form Northampton side on Saturday. Simon Walton's first goal for the club with 22 minutes remaining marked a memorable comeback from the Alex and Dario says the spirit and character of his team always gives them a chance.
As we prepare for the visit of John Sheridan's Chesterfield side now on Wednesday night, Dario told us: "The game on Saturday actually looks better on DVD than it did at the time and we created a lot of chances, but then so did Northampton. It was that sort of game.
"They had a lot of the ball and I shouldn't have been too surprised by that because we had prepared ourselves to deal with that. We played fairly well and the outcome was terrific for us.
"To win with those two late goals is great for us and we can go into the Chesterfield game full of confidence. This league is a lot better than we were in before. It is no longer a burial ground for old players at the end of their careers.
"Northampton came and played football. I didn't know their manager before, he was in charge of their youth team there but he is a bright, young manager like a lot of them in the lower leagues.
Dario added: "Chesterfield will try and play football as well under John (Sheridan) they are right up there and have good players. They have proved that they are a good side, but we have nothing to fear because not many teams have outplayed us this season."
