Dario Gradi says that the Alex defence will have to improve on their performance at Rochdale if we are going to enjoy another unbeaten run. The Railwaymen are now 10 point shy of the play-offs and a number of teams still do have games in hand following the adverse weather conditions over the New Year.
Rochdale's front two of Chris O'Grady and Chris Dagnall proved to be the difference at the weekend with the league leaders running our comfortable 2-0 winners and Gradi is after improvement.
O'Grady gave Rochdale an 8th minute lead after Crewe failed to clear their lines before Matt Tootle turned a cross from the same player into his own net just a minute into the second half. It left Crewe with an almighty mountain to climb at Spotland.
Dario told crewealex.net: "Our centre-halves were given a hard time by their two forwards all afternoon. I thought they caused us a whole host of problems and the centre-halves will have to defend better than that.
"Their front two were very good and were the difference, although I didn't think we played well enough to get a point out of the game."
