Gudjon Thordarson is convinced that his strikeforce of six players possess enough to fire Crewe into the promotion frame this coming season. Despite off loading Tom Pope to Rotherham United for £150,000, the Icelander believes that his strikers will score enough goals to make sure Crewe are up there challenging at the top of League Two.

Gudjon told the club's official web-site: "I have six strikers here at the moment. I can choose from Elding, Zola, Donaldson, Miller, Moore and Grant and I'm convinced that they will want to push themselves forward and do the business for us.

"I have faith in their ability and I'm convinced that they have more than enough ability to do the job in League Two.

"I have a system and formation in mind that I would like to try in the pre-season and we will see how that goes. We will work on the idea out on the training ground and in the warm-up matches and it is a nice option to have.

"I cannot say we are going to do this or that or play that way or this way. All I can do is try and build a team capable of winning matches, so that we are competing at the right end of the table.

"That won't be easy because it is never straight forward to bounce straight back. There will at least half of the teams in League Two thinking that they are good enough to win promotion and they will be preparing for that.

"All we can do is look after ourselves and make sure we are in the right shape for the start of the season."
