Gudjon Thordarson has told the club's official web-site that is pleased with his pre-season fixtures, despite the fact that he has been unable to take his players away for a period of time. The Alex boss had contemplated taking his players away for a week's training camp abroad - but with his involvement with his pro-licence qualification and the recent appointment of new assistant manager Steve Davis that had to be placed on the back burner.
Crewe kick off their pre-season campaign against Newcastle Town this coming Sunday and Thordarson is pleased to have a variety of fixtures to look forward too.
The Alex boss told us: "I am relatively pleased with the pre-season fixtures because we have a variety of opposition. We have a couple of fixtures that should be relatively comfortable to give us a chance to assess how the players are doing and then we have three clubs from the Premiership coming to Crewe.
"They will be a good test for us and it is important we go into those game to make sure the players get the maximum out of it. They will be building up for the big kick-off. People mention August 8th and the first game but I want the players to be ready for the whole season."
