'King Has The Hunger And Desire'
Gudjon Thordarson has told the club's official web-site that the 'hunger and desire' of Mat Mitchel-King is what convinced him that the former Histon captain would be the right signing to strengthen his defence.
King is expected to put pen-to-paper later today after undergoing a routine medical and he will join his former Histon team-mate Patrick Ada at the club if that proves successful. King is Thordarson's second permanent signing of the summer and will go a long way to replacing the void left by the likes of Julien Baudet, Danny Woodards and Chris McCready this summer.
Thordarson told the club's official web-site: "Mat is close to signing. I held talks with him earlier this week and after he undergoes his medical later today, then he will become our player.
"He will be good for us because he has been the captain of Histon and he has that desire to succeed in the league. I want players with that hunger to make that step up and improve their careers and their lives.
"This will be a chance for him and he is a committed lad. He wants to come here and improve and I'm sure that once everything goes through then he will improve our team.
"We have lost a few defenders this summer and it is important that we are able to fill some of those pockets. He is a free agent and a leader and that was key for us."
