Gudjon Targets Great Dane

Posted on: Tue 19 May 2009

Gudjon Thordarson has admitted to the club's official web-site that he is interested in bringing in a quality Danish centre-back if at all possible. Thordarson has his eye on the unnamed player, currently playing in the Danish First Division and he is hopeful of watching him in action before the end of their current season in June.

With Thordarson losing his captain Julien Baudet to the MLS, loanees Dennis Lawrence and Marlon Broomes returning to their parent clubs and George Abbey and Chris McCready being released, the club only have Danny O'Donnell currently on their books as a recognised central defender.

Thordarson has listed a new centre back as his main priority and has not ruled out the possibility of going abroad to capture him if necessary.

Gudjon told the club's official web-site: "I have been in touch with a defender in Denmark and I would be keen on him because the reports have been good. I would like to see him myself though before making the final decision.

"He plays in the Danish First Division and with the dialogue we have had he has suggested he might come here. He isn't so keen on the division we are going to be playing in but he knows that if he can come over here and play well then he will be in the shop window and could move on to bigger and better things.

"Their league continues into June and I have not closed the door on him or anyone else because Dennis Lawrence and Marlon Broomes are still in my thoughts too."
