Alex Wait On Duo
With Michael O'Connor (Northern Ireland) and Dennis Lawrence (Trinidad and Tobago) away on International duty this week, Steve Holland is hoping that James Bailey and Julien Baudet will recover from injury set backs to challenge for a place in the starting eleven for Saturday's tricky test at Scunthorpe.
Bailey missed Monday night's clash at Tranmere Rovers after suffering slight concussion against Northampton Town but it is hoped the talented youngster will resume training towards the end of the week and declare himself fit for selection.
Julien Baudet has been suffering with a hamstring problem, obtained in training and as a consequence his place in the starting eleven has gone to the on-loan Lawrence. Baudet faces a race against time to declare himself fit to face high-flying Scunthorpe but will see this as an ideal chance to reinstate himself in the team following the arrival of Lawrence on loan from Swansea.
Steve Holland will be hoping to have these two senior players available for Saturday, and has told the club's official web-site: "James is doing fine. He suffered concussion against Northampton and he couldn't play against Tranmere. We are hopeful that he will be able to resume full training tomorrow and be available for selection. Saying that you have to be careful with players who have suffered a head injury like that.
"We have lost Michael O'Connor so it would be nice to have James available again, but we have enough players here and Steve (Schumacher) did fine in there at Tranmere. Losing players to International commitments is nothing new and there is no point moaning about it. You just have to get on with it and it will give someone else a chance.
He added: "We are still unsure about Julien. It will be touch and go a bit. We are not sure if this weekend will come too quickly for him, but we hope he will be fit and available."
