Although it is diffiuclt to predict Liverpool's starting eleven this evening, it is thought that boss Rafa Benitez will elect to give some of his fringe players a chance to stake their claim ahead of the Merseyside derby this weekend.

Liverpool were held to a goalless draw by our local neighbours Stoke City this weekend and Benitez may rest a whole array of top International stars including Fernando Torres, Steven Gerrard and Xabi Alonso, but that doesn't mean that the Reds starting line up won't be brimming with top players.

Danish centre-half Daniel Agger is set to start at Anfield and he could be partnered at the back by the vastly experienced defender Sami Hyypia. Jermaine Pennatt is set to start on the wing and the exciting Dutch international Ryan Babel could be handed a role after missing Saturday's match against the Potters.

The Brazilian goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri will start for Liverpool in place of normal number one Jose Renia. Other chances could be handed to the impressive youngsters Nabil El Zhar and David Ngog.
