Pacy Donaldson Will Add Firepower
Steve Holland is hoping that his soon-to-be-new striker Clayton Donaldson will be determined to resurrect his career at Crewe Alexandra. The 24-year-old striker is set to complete his move to the Alex tomorrow after agreeing personal terms with the club over the weekend.
Holland targeted the talented Hibs striker after his chances became limited at Easter Road following the arrival of Mixu Paatelaineen as manager. Donaldson, who was hot property following a goal glut for York City, is set to become Holland's third striker capture of the summer after Anthony Elding and Calvin Zola joined the club in the summer.
The transfer cannot officially be finalised until Tuesday and the club will need to confirm International clearance from the Scottish FA before he can be considered for the weekend clash with Walsall.
Holland though is convinced Donaldson will have that same burning desire to prove people wrong As Elding after an indifferent spell in Scotland.
"The forward we are after falls into the same category as Anthony (Elding). He has done well at a lower level and scored a lot of goals, ' says Steve.
"He got a move to a big club on the back of that and not quite convinced people. A change of manager there changed his fortunes and he didn't quite crack it. We are hoping that he will come here and get going again and will want to show everyone what a good player he is.
"He is going to be the quick one, who will run in behind and will give us something different to what we have already managed to bring into the club this summer."
