Joel Grant, the former Aldershot flier is hoping that he can make his mark on League One during this forthcoming season in the same way he did when helping Gary Waddock's side to promotion back into the Football League. Grant won rave reviews for his display on the wing for the Conference Champions and his impressive form saw him land a dream move to the Alexandra Stadium and a chance to show his potential at a higher level.

The former Watford youngster has certainly excited the Alex fans during pre-season with his willingness to go past his opposite number and if he can produce goals at the end of those dazzling runs, then we really could have a talent on our hands.

A modest Grant though is just delighted to have been given this chance at Crewe, and is determined to have a good season: "It has been a really good season and I've really enjoyed it here at Crewe. It has gone really well for me so far and now I'm looking forward to the new season and the first game.

"I feel as though I am ready for the challenge and hopefully I can help Crewe have some success. I enjoyed my time at Aldershot and felt I did well there and hopefully now I can make the same sort of impact at Crewe.

"There are a lot of good players here and a lot of talented youngsters coming through as well, so the future looks good for us. The other new signings have settled in well and are good players, so I think we will do much better this season than last time.

"I usually keep my personal goals to myself. As long as I can play as many games as I can and score a few goals then I will be happy with my contribution."
