Crewe Alexandra's new arrival Joel Grant has told the club's official web-site that he is desperate to get started at his new club following his £130,000 switch from Aldershot Town. Grant, 20, signed a three-year deal with us today after cutting short his holiday in Jamaica to complete the deal.

Grant will now meet up with his new team-mates as they begin pre-season training next week and will then make the pre-season trip to Bulgaria where he should mark his first appearance for the club against FC Maritsa.

After agreeing personal terms and signing this afternoon, Grant exclusively told Crewe Alex World: "Basically, I was offered the contract here and I like the way that Crewe works and how they bring on players and it all feels really homely here. I'm delighted about the move and I hope to do my best here.

"I've played here before so I know all about the supporters. I don't know the ins and outs of the club but I do know that it's a good gamble for me.

"I know a few people who used to play here, a few of my team-mates at Aldershot used to play at Crewe, so hopefully it will be the same.

"At Aldershot we had a similar set up in terms of having a young team, but again with some experience. I hope it goes the same way for me really."

Grant, who has represented Jamaica at Under-20 and Under-23 level in his young career, can operate on both wings and was a key element in Aldershot's promotion to the Football League last season. He is confident that he can make the step up into League One and help Crewe enjoy a much better campaign.

Joel said: "I think my main strength is my attacking play. I hope I can get some goals for the team and become a big threat in the attacking third. Individually I would like to give my best and always will do.

"If we can have a good season next year, I heard it didn't go too well last season, so hopefully we can finish a lot higher and push from there."
