Dario Gradi was not to pleased to see a second red card for one of his players in the last three games, after Ashley Westwood was dismissed following a clash with our former striker Luke Rodgers. The Notts County player was also red carded as temperatures rose in stoppage time. Both players had a push and shove and the referee could have handled it better, instead of allowing a melee to ensue.
Dario was disappointed that Rodgers let his emotions get the better of him after the two players had clashed.
Afterwards, Dario told crewealex.net: "Luke (Rodgers) attacked Ashley (Westwood). I have no doubt about that, and Ashley has retaliated, which he shouldn't have done. The referee got it right in the end though, if he was going to send Ashley off then he had to send Luke off. The games boiled up from there and it was no longer a football match.
"I was on the pitch, but I was in control of what I was doing. Me and Luke had a good chat before the game, he was asking my advice, and it's a shame he can't control himself all the time.
"I was horrified at the crowd when he went over the advertising boards. They cheered and that disgusted me. Anything could have happened to him and I was alarmed. There is no need for that. To me that is not what football is about."
Back to the game and Dario continued: " We definitely have a lapse at the back for their goal.We can do that week in and week out and we are harder to beat, but we are losing games we should be drawing and drawing games we should be winning.
"Chris Stokes looks ok. I like him but there is the question of whether he will learn from his mistakes. He did bump into the guy for the penalty, so he is going to fall over, even if it's too easily.
"Their guy did the same to us later on, but the referee decided not to give the penalty. Chris did it again for the free kick, and we have a problem at the back post, we can't stop those good headers and it's goals like that that I worry about."
On collecting a few injures, Dario added: "Bailey has a very swelled eye and his health was more important than letting him carry on in the game. Mat just had a cut on his finger from the advertising boards and Chris has tweaked his hamstring so we'll have to see how he is on Monday."
