Dario Gradi was delighted as his Crewe side fought back from 2-1 down to seal three terrific points against Northampton this afternoon. Midfielder Simon Walton produced a stunning winner on 68 minutes to seal the points for the Railwaymen after Ashley Westwood had earlier scored twice.

After a thrilling 3-2 win for the Railwaymen, Dario told the club's official web-site: "It is a terrific victory for us after what was a great game of football. I could see it coming at one stage but the game changed a lot.

"We made a good start with Westy's free-kick because they gave a lot of free-kicks away today, so it was nice to score from one.

"We tried to screen Akinfenwa up front but that meant we were not screening the midfield players as well as we should have been and that is how they scored their equaliser, and at 1-1 we all knew it was going be a tough second half.

"I wasn't particularly surprised that they went ahead. There were one or two of our players who were not flying on all cylinders. We picked up again after the second goal though and it was a super goal and strike from Westy.

"I thought that would be Westy's position (right midfield) when he was growing up. He is always very positive and he is playing well. I think everyone can see that he is a good player."

Dario also saved praised for Walton's wonderfully struck winner. Dario said: "It was a super goal from Simon and he has done well for us. He can be a bit up and down with his temperament but he is working on that and is desperate to do well.

"Steve also made two or three really good saves and that is what he is here for. A good goalkeeper doesn't just save the routine ones, they save the ones you don't expect them too and he did that for us today.

"It is great to win two on the bounce now and to win at home. The fans have gone home excited, hopefully they will come back on Tuesday night with a few more and we can play better and win again."
