Crewe Alexandra boss Dario Gradi was pleased that his side got something out a game that they had deserved too. Crewe threw everything at Torquay in the second half and were virtually camped in their half - but a combination of loose shooting, a bid of bad luck and some resolute defending meant it looked like being one of those nights for the Alex and the hearty souls who braved the weather to come and watch their team in action for the second time in three days.
Super sub Shaun Miller gave them something to go home with after nipping in to score a deserved equaliser in the 92nd minute. It was no more than Crewe deserved.
Dario told the club's official web-site: "I thought it was a decent game and at times we played some very good football. I cannot promise to win games but I will promise that we will try and play some football and at times tonight we put some super moved together.
"The players stuck at it and I was doubly delighted that Shaun got in for the goal tonight. He has had a difficult time of it of late - but continues to work hard and he was rewarded for his efforts with his goal. The goal came out of nothing because he was prepared to get in there onto the ball from Harry.
"You can pick between Shaun, Byron and Clayton for the second striker slot because I don't thing there is that much in it.
"I am pleased for him and the players because they certainly didn't deserve to lose tonight. I didn't think Torquay were going to score in the second half, I thought they might in the first half but I thought we controlled it in the second half a lot more.
"Shaun thought he would score tonight. He told me that before the game and I thought he was due a goal too. I am delighted for him and the team because we deserved something."
