Dario Gradi wasn't overly impressed with the performance but was delighted with our first win in five matches. Full-back Darren Moss was in the right place at the right time again to turn home his second goal in three games to give Crewe a vital three points against the League's bottom club.

Dario told crewealex.net: "Three points and a clean sheet it can' get much better than that. It was a poor game, but it's going to be like that for the rest of the season now, I don't think we're even going to try and play much football between now and the end of the season. You can't roll a ball out on the pitch.

"We maybe not quite good enough to do that anyway all the time and really, I say it jokingly, but they didn't have a chance, the only chance they had Ben made a super save from. We tried something different to leave somebody up the field but in the end it's hard doing something different with them, something else happens and there isn't anybody out there really to see what is going on so Ben had to make a great save and it should have been headed off the line in normal circumstances.

"I learnt from that mistake and put somebody on the line in the second half and I also learnt from the mistake of taking Michael Higdon off which everybody wanted me to do. I understand that, and he understands that, he's come in and said 'I've got to do better than that haven't I?' and I said 'yes', but I learnt my mistakes I took him off last home game and conceded from a corner, I wasn't going to make the same mistake twice and I felt much happier seeing him on there, when they had a corner with virtually the last kick of the game.

Dario backed his underfire striker: "He's a genuine lad and I thought the crowd was good to him, he was pretty awful all the way through to be honest and they only had a go at him towards the end, I thought they were very patient with him and he knows that. I just have to carry on working with him, and he can do better than that, we will do better than that. He's not going to roar about like the other two but he will do better than that I assure you."

Dario was pleased with the only goal of the game that sees Crewe go through the 50 point barrier.

After the game the alex manager told the club's official web-site: "It was a super goal, it was just a mass of bodies in there as far as I was concerned, but watching the video at half time, Mossy did really well, he's gone through two people to get there, they have tried to stop him and they have ended up on the deck. He's gone in there with great ambition. You wonder why players don't have that, you look at shots going in on the goal and crosses going in on the goal and Rodney is standing still, you practice and practice and practice with them but he doesn't seem to have that whatever it is that this boy has got, at least at the set plays."
