The Alex's Under-18's slumped to a 3-0 reversal at the hands of table topping Manchester City on Saturday.

Steve Holland's side went down to their heaviest defeat of the season at the Alex's Reaseheath Training Complex, as the powerful league leaders rattled in three un-answered goals past Crewe keeper Craig Ellison.

City, who have enjoyed a strong start to the new season having lost just once, were quickly 2-0 up in the first half as goals by Ched Evans and Ben Mee put them in the ascendancy.

The visitors extended their lead after the break, as Adam Clayton added a third, and their was no way back for the young Railwaymen, who are still carrying a number of injuries at this early stage of the new season.

Holland's youngsters will be hoping to bounce back when they travel to Stoke City for their next league fixture at the weekend.
