Crewe Alexandra Football Club have accepted a late invitation to join the Northern Ireland Milk Cup.
The Railwaymen, who have long been associated with the competition, were set to miss this season's tournament having already competed in the Dallas Cup in the USA earlier in the year.
However, the competitions organisers, have offered the Alex a place in the Under-14's section of the competition and, despite having to organise a travelling party at short notice, the club are delighted to accept the invitation.
The likes of Seth Johnson, Dean Ashton, David Vaughan and Lee Bell have all graced the Milk Cup in the past few seasons and last term youngster Ashley Westwood was named 'Player of the Tournament' in the Under-16 section of the Tournament.
Academy Education and Welfare Officer Malcolm Hughes, who spent yesterday evening organising a squad to travel to Belfast, told the Official Website

"We were not planning to enter a team into the competition this season following our hugely successful trip to Dallas with the Under-14's.
"However we have long been supporters of the Northern Ireland Milk Cup, which is one of the premier Youth Tournaments in World Football, and when we received this invitation we were delighted to accept.
"As with the Dallas Cup, tournaments of this kind can be hugely beneficial to youngsters over development both on and off the pitch, and our Under-14's will fly out to Belfast this weekend looking forward to the competition."
Academy Manager Steve Holland will lead a 17-man squad to Northern Ireland on Sunday, supported by Hughes and a member of the physiotherapy department.
