Crewe Alexandra's Under-18's ended their FA Premier Academy League fixtures on Saturday with a closely fought 1-0 defeat at title chasing Manchester United.
The young Railwaymen slipped to a narrow loss at the Red Devils' Carrington Training Ground, to wrap up a season which has seen the Reds finish eighth in the table.
With Owain fon Williams and Grant Carson missing through injury, Steve Holland handed a chance to trialist goalkeeper Luke Tilt to impress between the sticks, whilst Adam Dugdale returned from injury in central defence to partner Nathaniel Kerr.
Gareth Evans returned to the side to play against his former club, but the Alex couldn't break down an impressive Manchester United defence.
Team: Luke Tilt, Alastair Brown, Adam Dugdale, Nathaniel Kerr, James Bailey; Luke Murphy, Cavell Coo, John Dillon; Gareth Evans, Byron Moore, Shaun Miller. Subs: Lee Mannion, Amari Morgan-Smith, Nick Farquharson, Junior Brown
