We Remember Hillsborough

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the Hillsborough tragedy


Today, we remember the 96 victims of the Hillsborough disaster. As a group of football fans they attended an FA Cup semi-final and never came home. The tragedy affected all football supporters’ because it could have happened to any supporters of any Football Club.


Thankfully, in the wake of the Taylor Report, Football Stadia and facilities have improved considerably but those who sadly lost their lives that day should never be forgotten.


The one minute silence observed by both Crewe and Wolverhampton Wanderers supporters on Saturday was impeccable.

“I remember the day. I had a game with Burnley and I remember coming in and seeing it all unfold on the television and the images of the supporters carrying the injured across the pitch on the advertising boards or carrying them in their arms. It is something that stays with you and it was a dark day for football and for the country.   Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis said:


“No-one should ever go to a football match and not go home afterwards. It was a tragedy and hopefully after 25 years, the families will get some answers and justice for their loved ones.


“The Hillsborough disaster is something we will never forget.”
