Osman says dressing room looking to respond

Summer signing Abdul Osman says the Alex have to learn quickly from Saturday’s heavy defeat to Brentford and use that to respond in a positive manner against Premier League side West Ham this evening.

Osman and the rest of the dressing room know they let the travelling Alex fans down at Griffin Park and want to lift spirits again with a good display at Upton Park.

Ahead of the Capital One Cup tie, Osman said: “We started really badly on Saturday and could not get going. We know we are a better side than that and should be competing a lot better than we did.

“The fans came down a long way to London and we didn’t give them anything to shout about. We improved a bit in the second half but we know we let ourselves down badly. We have to learn from it and come back stronger.

“The West Ham game has come at a good time for us. We know it will be difficult at Upton Park but we want to give them a good game and are going there trying to get through to the next round.

“Playing against a Premier League team gives a player a lift. We would all like to play higher so having the chance to test ourselves against top players is always a good marker.

The midfielder added: “They play good football. We try and play the right way as well so everyone is looking forward to a good game.”
