Steve Davis says Alex have to take advantage of back-to-back home games

Steve Davis wants his in-form Crewe Alexandra side to build on a superb 3-1 win over Preston North End and add to his initial target of 30 points over the Christmas period. Crewe now have back-to-back home points against Bury and Bournemouth and the Alex boss says his players should approach the games with a renewed confidence and belief after arguably our best performance of the season at Deepdale.

Steve, who has a selection headache to make over his starting XI said: “We had a great result at Preston but I’ve never been one for looking back. I am always looking forward to the next game and I was the same when I was a player.

“We had a good result and a good performance but that has gone now and it is all about getting a result against Bury. We have back-to-back home games coming up now and it is important that we build on our recent success.

“We have done reasonably well at home this season and had some success away from home as well. The players really want the three points this Saturday and after what they have achieved so far will approach it in a confident manner.

“They should be full of confidence and enjoy the game. I’m sure the fans will help us with that and I’ sure it will be a great atmosphere.”
