Davis says Crewe will have to perform well to get a result at Meadow Lane

Steve Davis expects another tough assignment at Notts County this weekend, despite the Magpies recently dismissing their manager Keith Curle. The Nottingham club have appointed their development coach Chris Kiwomya as their caretaker manager and Steve admits that he will be doing his best to get their season back on track in front of their home fans tomorrow.

Steve, who has banished all talk of the second leg against Coventry, told us: “They are all tough games, each and every one of them because they are good teams with good players.

“Every game presents a different challenge and we know that we have to play well to get a result either at home or away. We are learning about this league and have learned a lot since we last played Notts County on the opening day of the season. We lost that day 2-1 but we have improved as a team since then and have a different group of players.

“A trip to Notts County is always something you look forward to and they will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing defeat in the week to Scunthorpe. That is never an easy place to go, but Chris (Kiwomya) will be looking to bounce back at home and put that result behind them. They will be wanting Chris to do well.

“They will be motivated in front of their home crowd and will be looking to get their season back on track. It can sometimes disrupt a club when they lose their manager, but they have appointed Chris for the time being, and he is a man who knows all about the club from his time as a coach there.

“We will have to guard against any backlash and go into the game full of confidence having got a good result ourselves at Coventry.”
