Uche Set For League Debut?

16 January 2014

New loan signing set to face Orient at Gresty Road

Steve Davis could hand youngster Uche Ikpeazu his senior debut against Leyton Orient on Saturday. The 18-year-old has joined Crewe Alexandra on loan until the end of the season and is yet to make his first-team debut for his parent club Watford or his previous club Reading.

The prolific forward wasted no time on registering his first goal in Crewe colours by netting against Huddersfield Town’s Under-21s on Monday and Davis may well partner the powerful Nigerian alongside his close pal Chuks Aneke.

Steve told crewealex.net: “Playing against men won't phase him at all. He's very much in my thoughts for the team. We brought him here to play.

“I've always thought if they are good enough it doesn't matter if they are 16 or 30, so that doesn't put me off. Watford have had him on the bench and training with their first team, so he obviously has something.

“Uche is now ready for a fresh challenge. He is physically equipped. He is a good friend of Chuks so we're hoping that partnership and friendship blossoms and they get some goals for us.”
